Meal Planning Monday: BBQ Chicken

Today I am sharing one of my go to recipes. To be honest, it shouldn’t even be called a recipe. It’s really just an easy meal that has become a favorite in my house.
We try to limit our sugar intake as much as we can so BBQ sauce is not typically on the menu due to the high sugar content. But I came across this BBQ sauce that is low in sugar and I thought I would give it a try.
These baked chicken legs are delicious and will satisfy any BBQ cravings!
This recipe is as easy as 1 – 2 – 3. The first step is to take the chicken legs and marinate them. I choose to use G Hughes BBQ Sauce in Hickory.
I use two packages of chicken legs (10 legs) and remove the fat, then put them in a gallon size plastic bag and pour in one bottle of BBQ sauce.
The second step is to mix the BBQ sauce and the chicken legs. My son really liked helping with this one. He had fun “shaking” the chicken in the bag. Most meal planning Mondays you will find hip hop playing in the background as we meal prep but we decided to turn up “Shake it Off” and had fun dancing in the kitchen while shaking up the chicken!
The third step is to bake the chicken. I put foil on a cookie sheet and pre heat the oven to 350 degrees. I place the chicken on the foil, pour the remaining BBQ sauce on top and then bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked.
I love to serve corn with my BBQ chicken but any veggies pair well. These chicken legs make for a delicious and easy dinner and are great as leftovers for lunch the next day. I also have a Teriyaki recipe I will share another day that is also on my favorite meals list.
