Valentine’s day is only about a month away! Can you believe it?
The first month of the year always feels like it fly’s by for me. You?
As I have been preparing the Thoughtful Tradition Valentine boxes, one of the activities the kids loved was the the DIY Valentine Cards. Today I am going to show you how to set up your own card making station!
The first step is to gather some paper. Included in the box is a variety of pink card stock but you could use regular paper, craft paper or even notebook paper you have around your home.
Next we need to gather a few supplies such as scissors, tape, markers, pencil or pens, and glue. I also included water colors in the box and these or any kind of paint would also be a great addition to your station, although you might need a little more supervision with these! The kids wanted a snack while they made their cards so we also added popcorn to our station. A few pieces ended up glued to the cards and I thought that was super creative so maybe even add some popcorn to eat and use at your station!
And finally for the fun, you can set out a variety of embellishments! The Thoughtful Traditions box includes pom poms, stickers, sequins, glitter, mini clothes pins and a heart stamp but feel free to include any creative items you can find. It could be simple like paper clips or even use a cookie cutter to make hearts or other fun shapes!
Now that you have all the supplies, let your kids get creative. It is really fun to watch them use the embellishments in unique ways to make their very own custom Valentine card. Make sure you ask them who they are making their card for. You might be surprised to hear their answer!
Let me know what fun items you like to use for your DIY Valentine Cards!
