Behind the Scenes: Halloween Party

I may earn money or products from links or companies mentioned in this post. For more details please see my disclosure.

One of the reasons I started this blog was to share my passion of bucket lists and thoughtful traditions with you.

In October 2015, before this blog was even an idea, I had recently adopted my 4 year old son Gabriel. It was in one of the busiest seasons of my event planning business and I had just completed the first quarter with of my second business, Bridalpreneur.

After I had shared my “Reverse Trick or Treating Halloween Party” many of my readers asked about the details so I shared this on my Bridalpreneur blog.

I shared with you our “Reverse Trick or Treating Halloween Party” last week and many of you have emailed me and asked about the details.

The first week in October I started thinking about this party. I called a few nursing homes and regretfully many of them would not allow us to come or were very confused on why we would want to. Luckily I came across The Carlyle at Stonebridge Park and they were thrilled we wanted to bring the kiddos.

The past few days have been pretty crazy. Honestly the last thing I needed to do was throw a party at my house midweek. We had six events last weekend, my husband’s parents came to visit for the week, we hosted a big family dinner on Sunday, I ended up having to take my sweet yorkie Lexie to the emergecy vet on Monday, and my calling at church is to organize monthly events for the women and our October event was on Tuesday. Wednesday morning’s party was going to come bright and early.

Most of the items you see in the photos I picked up at Walmart at 10PM on Tuesday evening after my church event because it was the only store that was open. I planned ahead on a few items but it was such a busy week I honestly forgot to pick up a lot of the details.

Cupcakes: Nothing Bundt Cakes (Pumpkin Spice + Lemon)

Cupcakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes are my absolute favorite. You can almost guarantee these will be at any party I host. I added these cute little toppers from the Walmart cake decorating section for some added Halloween fun!

Mini Pecan Pies: Walmart

These are one of my secret weapons. During the holiday season I use them for so many things. They are bite size perfection.

Stickers on Serving Dishes + Milk Jars: Walmart

I intended to use a download I found on pinterest and get printed on Tuesday but it didn’t happen so I was happy to find these cute stickers to use as labels.

There were a few ingredients that didn’t make it to the party too! I found these cute stripe spoons from Etsy and planned on doing yogurt but they sat empty all morning because I forgot to buy yogurt.

A big thank you to Walmart who is open twenty four hours a day for mamas that want to add special details to their halloween party but didn’t plan far enough in advance and need to shop at midnight.

Even though it was a busy week I was so happy we had our party. It turned out to be a great morning filled with yummy breakfast snacks, great conversation and a memory of serving others with our kiddos.

Don’t worry about having the perfect party or even the perfect decorations. Just invite friends and family over and enjoy. Life is way too short not to share moments together and there is always a reason to celebrate.

Thoughtfully, Chelsey
